Yet another wine region notable for its fine food is the Yarra Valley, where Oakridge Wines in the tiny hamlet of Coldstream is home to a “great site, killer design, superb wine and a restaurant that ticks like a metronome,” according to John Lethlean in The Australian. Oakridge a rare thing, says Lethlean: “contemporary vineyard food with a serious affinity with the vines … even desserts have the wow factor, a welcome combination of creativity and common sense.” He recommends the dry-aged chicken confit leg and roasted breast, spelt porridge and pine mushrooms (in season).
