Visit Ponyfish Island and sip coffee in the middle of Melbourne’s main river

“We do love a good secret in Melbourne,” says Concrete Playground. To find Ponyfish Island, reports Broadsheet, head to the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge over the Yarra River, down a set of stairs, to find a café-bar with “recycled timber, shipping palettes remodelled into stools, hessian sack covers and wooden planter boxes” Think chilled out backyard BBQ, says Concrete Playground (and yes, they actually have a BBQ from Thursday through Sunday, dishing up chicken and haloumi burgers and deluxe beef burgers). “When it comes to the all-important beverages there are about 12 beers by the bottle here including Fat Yak, White Rabbit and Peroni … with well-rounded offerings and a waterfront view, Ponyfish Island's what we'd recommend on a sunny arvo for a few coldies with mates in front of the sizzling barbie.”
