The best restaurants around Can Tho

Nam Do: “This joint is very famous among the locals, so you can expect authentic, Vietnamese fare that isn’t tailored to international tastes … in addition to Mekong specialties, the restaurant also focuses on Chinese food … the restaurant is large, looks a little colonial, and is situated almost at the waterfront. On every table is a set of condiments you can add to your dish as you like but beware, the chilies are very spicy … stop at one piece.” (The Culture Trip)

Nem Nuong Thanh Van: “Has long been regarded as the best place for nem Nuong in the city, and a favorite destination for tourists who are looking for delicious nem … Nem Nuong, or grilled pork rolls, are a staple of Vietnamese cuisine … the pork rolls are rolled with some banh hoi (bundled rice vermicelli) and vegetables into a sheet of banh trang (rice paper), and then dipped in a soy-based sauce … natives and expats gobble it up.” (Maze Vietnam)

Spices Restaurant: “Go for a table overlooking the river at this fine restaurant, refined without being stuffy, and opt for the beautifully presented trio of salads (green papaya, banana flower, green mango) or the assortment starter for two, and follow up with deep-fried elephant fish or pork-stuffed squid … lamb shanks and seared duck cater to homesick palates and the desserts are magnificent.” (Lonely Planet)

Sao Hom: “Overlooks the local market on one side and the river on the other side … set menus are available for larger groups and the dishes in the menu are diverse, from deep fried pumpkin flowers, cooked banana, shrimp in mango sauce, to hotpot, and more exotic meals like frog and snake … try the coconut ice cream for dessert -- it comes smothered in alcohol.” (The Culture Trip)
