Flying to Venice

The main airport that services Venice is the Marco Polo Airport, located on mainland Italy. More than 40 airlines operate there. Alternatively, Treviso Airport, located deeper inland, can be used by tourists and is serviced mainly by low-cost airlines with operations around Europe. From Marco Polo Airport, visitors can choose either the waterbus service (provided by the company Alilaguna), which takes approximately 40-75 minutes to reach the Venetian islands, or opt for a bus (operated by ATVO) or taxi. More info here.

Getting to Venice by boat: Most big boats to Venice, including cruise ships and ferries, dock at the main port called Stazione Marittima at the western end of the Zattere. From the port, visitors can board the Alilaguna water bus to San Marco. More information.

Getting around Venice: There are only two ways to get around Venice: on foot or by boat. More information on travelling around the islands.
